Portland Trust
The Portland Research Trust was established in 2004 to “promote the education, research and study of religion and faith”. The Trust has three trustees, Chris Bryant (Chairman), Richard Hunt (Treasurer) and Sandra Jamieson (Secretary). The Trust’s principal Researcher and Writer is Alan Jamieson.
To date the focus of research has been in the areas of:
- faith development
- faith journeys of church leavers
- potential future expressions of church
- Christian faith and church involvement in New Zealand
- spiritual intelligence
- a relevant theology of Christian Hope
Alan Jamieson
Alan Jamieson is a pastor who has also trained as a sociologist. His PhD, (published under the title – A Churchless Faith) researched why people leave churches and their journeys of faith beyond regular church involvement.
Seminars and Workshops
Alan Jamieson is available to lead workshops and seminars in the following areas:
- journeying with people of faith in and beyond congregations
- Christian faith development and how churches can nurture multiple faith stages
- journeying in the wildernesses of faith and despair
- stages of faith in a postmodern context
